What sets you apart from other massage therapists? Why should I choose you?
Therapeutic massage is truly my calling. I have been a professional massage therapist for more than 25 years. In that time I have had the opportunity to study and become skilled in a variety of healing techniques. As I am driven to be the best therapist possible for my clients, I continually take advanced trainings so I can help them with a broader range pain issues.
Additionally, I am a certified medical/orthopedic massage instructor.
How is a therapeutic massage different than a relaxation massage?
All professionals have different qualifications, training, and expertise. And so it is within the massage therapy field. A therapeutic massage has a completely different purpose and intention than a relaxation massage. The focus of the therapeutic massage or medical/orthopedic massage is to determine the exact cause of a client’s pain or discomfort. The goal is to work on the structures that are implicated and healing those areas so that a client can get back to the activities they love.
Therapeutic massage is designed to address clients in any kind of pain, discomfort or dysfunction. It is also great in relieving muscle soreness due to a rigorous workout routine.
What should I expect during my initial session?
During your initial visit I will discuss your history and pain, do orthopedic testing, and determine a treatment plan designed specifically for you based on my assessment and your goals.
What should I wear?
This depends on what area of the body needs to be addressed. In all cases clients will be appropriately covered during a massage either by a sheet or loose fitting workout clothing.
Will my massage be painful?
Clients describe the sensation as a “good hurt”. The massage can be mildly uncomfortable, but no more than that. We will be in constant communication during the treatment. My goal is to heal. Using too much pressure can be overwhelming to the nervous system.
What happens after my session is done?
As in the session itself, I will get your continual feedback to make certain I am addressing the specific areas in need. Fractions of an inch can be critical to the effectiveness of the treatment. I will then ask you to move to determine if we reduced your pain or discomfort. I will then suggest self care you can do at home to continue your healing between sessions.
What if I need to cancel or change my appointment?
I require 24 hour notice to cancel or change your appointment or you will be charged in full for your missed session.
